Tween Xstream

The Walt Disney Company announced that they will launch their Disney+ streaming platform in South Africa on 18 May 2022, with monthly subscriptions going for R119pm and their annual subscription at R1 190pa.

Disney +, which currently has some of the most popular content on their platform, like all the Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars movies/shows, will draw a lot of subscribers to their platform; and just like Netflix quickly became very popular in South Africa.

But is this a good thing for Christian parents?

Not according to recent video leaks of what is going on behind the scenes at Disney, and how they proudly are trying to indoctrinate young kids, as is reported by Fox News in the video below.

But did you know that Disney is not the only “kids channel” with this agenda? Nickelodeon recently also pushed Trans Propaganda on young children as was reported by Ben Shapiro of the Daily Wire. But it didn’t just stay at Nickelodeon, but was also pushed in Blue’s Clues, a show aimed at 3 to 5 year old children.

But this leads me to some questions: Are parents aware of what is being shown to their kids by these channels? Secondly, whose job is it to speak about sexual orientation to kids; TV channels, schools, or the parents? And finally, what can parents do to protect their kids?

To answer the first question, I don’t know if parents know what is being shown to their kids. Are parents sitting with their kids and watching these shows? The problem with streaming platforms is that kids can watch shows anytime they want, on any device. It is becoming more and more difficult for parents to control what their kids are consuming.

Secondly, as a Christian we should always believe that God has entrusted the parents to raise their kids.

Train up a child in the way he should go;

even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:6

And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

Deuteronomy 6:6-7

And then finally, Ben Shapiro suggests that it is time to shut off the television, but what he means by that is that parents shouldn’t let their kids watch these channels. Maybe parents should stop trusting these “kids channels” blindly and start doing some homework and find decent alternatives that they feel comfortable with. There are loads of Christian streaming platforms that parents can choose from, not just Tween Xstream.

Parents, it is time to take control over what your kids are consuming.
